Rich Rock Buns

Makes about 16 little cakes.
½ lb plain flour
I tsp baking powder
1½ oz glacé cherries chopped
1½ oz crystallised ginger chopped
Pinch of salt
4oz butter
4oz soft brown sugar
1½ oz walnuts chopped
1 egg
(You could use raisins, sultanas or any other ‘extras’) 
Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Rub in the  butter. Add the sugar and fruit and nuts. Mix to a stiff dough with the egg. Arrange the mixture in small rough lumps on a greased baking sheet and bake in a hot oven (gas 7, 450°F, 230°C) for 15 minutes.
