Bhajis or Pakoras?

4 tbsp gram (chick pea) flour (besan)
1tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp each chilli powder, garam masala
Oil for deep frying
Onion, very thinly sliced
Sift the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix well. Add water until you have a creamy batter. Mix in the finely sliced onion (or other vegetables) and drop spoonfuls of the mixture into hot oil. Fry until golden and serve with a yoghurt dip and mint chutney.
